Dear Aeolian-ites, I have a 58-hole Aeolian Orchestrelle, which has
the number 7248 stamped on several spots throughout. When I purchased
it in 1970 it played very well, but at some point three or four years
later it stopped working. Now I am trying to resurrect it, and do not
even know what model I have.
Inside the chamber above the roll playing mechanism, which houses among
other things the Vox Humana vanes, is the inscription, in pencil, "A.B.
Chase, 1-14-03 Par 4666," making it about 100 years old. It is about
65 inches tall and just short of 72 inches wide.
Would it be an "S" model? The workings do not seem to correspond to
the on-line manual of the "W" model, but that may be related to my lack
of knowledge.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone with knowledge of this organ,
and how it works.
