Musical Box Plays Slowly
By Eliyahu Shahar

You should never use general oils on musical boxes. You can order oil
for music boxes from Nancy Fratti at <musicbox@dreamscape.com>

The other alternative is to order specialty clock oil from your local
clock repairman or on the Internet (http://www.timesavers.com/ ,
http://www.merritts.com/ , or http://www.slarose.com/ ).

You may have an additional problem of old gummy oil that should be
cleaned. This type of work should be handled only by an experienced
music box repairman. In the case of a disc-playing musical box, a
clock repairman can clean the mechanism, but make sure that he doesn't
touch the comb because they can be difficult to set.

Regards,

Eliyahu Shahar
