Hello all! Greetings from soggy Tennessee! In a previous Digest,
someone asked about a program that would play multiple MIDI files,
either from a list, or an entire folder. One program I use is
available from www.vanbasco.com. It is called "VanBasco MIDI Player".
It has a lot of neat features.
The control panel is set up like a CD player. You can set up a "play
list", which can contain 1 MIDI file, or hundreds! (I have 1076 MIDI
files in one folder alone on my computer!) It can be set to auto-play
the files in succession, randomly play the order of the files, or play
the files repeatedly. It has a "Piano" output display, which is a
graphic representation of a very wide piano keyboard (+100 notes),
which reverses the color of the keys depending on the notes being
played in a MIDI file.
Okay, that sounds confusing; however, if you enable the "Output"
display, you will see a graphic display of the notes being played on
all 16 MIDI channels, including the drum channel. The "Piano" display
is fun to watch, especially if you listen to a piano-only MIDI file.
The display is a sum of all the notes being played, except channel 10
(drums).
The "Output" mode will help you sort what notes are on which channel,
and the patch being played on that channel. You can "Mute" individual
channels, or "Solo" one channel, and the other channels will mute.
This will let you listen to certain channels.
I will agree that "WinAmp" is a great program to listen to multiple
MP3 files. I have quite a few band organ MP3's that I listen to using
"WinAmp". Thought I would pass this information along!
