What is ROMFI
By Mike Moran

ROMFI is a platform aiming to define and detail all products that have
been manufactured or created.

One could say that the aim is to build a monument to the ingenuity
of humankind. But more precisely, ROMFI is building a comprehensive
Encyclopedia / Reference utilising the power of the internet, and the
expertise of many. Thus because "everything" is a rather vast scope,
ROMFI relies on those people with expertise to add their knowledge into
ROMFI for the benefit of others, and benefit for themselves.

The ROMFI program has other features as well such as allowing one to
add sound or video clips, something very useful for the music field so,
for example, that people can not only see picture and read about a
particular instrument, but also hear how it sounded. Also, users can
review a submission and add further information to the existing
information of a particular product.

Just as you find Music instruments on ROMFI, you will also find
automobiles (750 different manufacturers so far), watches, farm
equipment, toys and basically whatever has been manufactures should
be / one day be on ROMFI. The scope of what goes in is from ancient
to modern.

There are additional features and cross references. Collectors of
things can build up an online catalog of their collection (preserving
anonymity) while sharing a portion of the knowledge of their collection
with the greater community. Histories of the different companies /
events are also able to be inputted and connected with the products
that the company or person produced.

That's the basics. It is important though to at least read a little of
the instructions, and surf around a bit just to initially familiarize
oneself with ROMFI.

Please do not hesitate to ask any further questions.
