Disc Musical Box Size Statistics - Bells
By Mike Knudsen

Kevin McElhone asked in 030423 MMDigest:

> 4. What is the highest number of bells on a disc musical box?

There are Polyphons with 16 bells that I've seen. But the record
holder may be a Polyphon or Regina (I forget which) at the Musical
Wonder House in Wiscasset, ME, with two rows of 16 bells, total 32.
It plays large diameter discs on a fold-out top.

According to owner and curator Danilo Konvalinka, one lady, upon
seeing this box closed up, said, "We have one just like this." Her
jaw dropped when Danilo opened it up to reveal the two rows of bells.

I've heard it play, and it's splendid.
