MIDI Files of Original Music Rolls at Web Site
By Terry Smythe
Just a brief note to let all know that my second batch of roll scans
is now uploaded to my personal web site. See:
http://members.shaw.ca/smythe/library.htm
As before, roll information is imbedded within each file in the
"File info" area. Not all MIDI playback utilities will display this
data. I ordinarily use Cakewalk Pro 9 which does display this data.
Robert Perry kindly put me onto Music Sculpture as a means of editing
this data into the file. However, in many cases, I have considerable
data, sometimes just too much to imbed within the track itself.
Thoughts of others on how best to include this data into the files
would be appreciated.

[ Caution: "File info" may not travel with the MIDI data file.
[ This is especially true when transferring files to a computer
[ with a different file management system. MIDI lyric and text
[ events are frequently discarded by MIDI editing programs, so
[ the surest way to store important information is to save it as
[ track titles. -- Robbie
