Material for Pneumatic Hinges
By Albert de Boer

As many others, I have used the blue striped pillow ticking material
for hinges and never had a problem. Try to avoid getting hide glue
on the hinge back when gluing on new cloth. It will add to making
the pneumatic 'hinge-bound'.

When helping a friend in the late fifties restore his player piano,
which was his and also my first restoration job, we used the material
of one of my old 'oxford' cloth white shirts for the hinges. I have
no idea where that piano is at the moment, but in the early 'eighties
it was still going strong.
