I couldn't agree more with Bob Taylor. Having moved from Sydney,
Australia to country New South Wales (still in Australia) one of the
things I miss the most is the bi-monthly meetings of the ACMMI
(Australian Collectors of Mechanical Musical Instruments). These
meetings gave me not only the opportunity to meet and form friendships
with others who have an interest in this field but also exposed me to
instruments that otherwise I would probably not have seen nor heard.
Hopefully, my next visit to Sydney will coincide with the June meeting
of the group.
It was also great to have the opportunity to visit Michael Woolf and
his collection when I was in New Zealand last year, as well as his
friend Jim (whose surname escapes me for the moment).
The MMD is a great exchange of information. But it's even better when
we can meet each other in person and experience each other's
collections.
