Piano Rolls With Square Drive Hole in Flange
By Nicholas Simons

The 10.5 inch rolls with square drive are for the Story and Clark
58-note player organ. Both Story and Clark and QRS made rolls for this
early player organ. The Aeolian Orchestrelle and Aeolian Grand player
organs played a very slightly narrower roll with pin ends, like the
65-note piano roll, and this was to become the industry standard for
player organs.

You should find that the rolls are punched at 6 to the inch lateral
spacing and play 58 notes.

These rolls are reasonably rare as they have never been recut in
modern times, but to get a reasonable price you need to find someone
with a suitable organ!

Kind regards from Great Britain,
Nicholas Simons
