Hi MMDers, I had a chance to hear some of the new recordings from
Chris Carlisle. I would like to give my recommendation. These are
professional quality CDs complete with the manufactured style labeling.
The exciting thing about this is the source for these recordings.
Most of the material is taken from reel tape recorded in the 1960s
By Paul Eakins. Some highlights include "Big Bertha" when she still
played 82-key North Tonawanda band organ rolls. Also, if you like the
Eakins' Seeburg H, the new CD, "All H Breaks Loose, Vol. 2," is very
good.
Another title that was never released is "Madam Lu Lu's Bawdy House".
This is the Coinola C-2 with flute pipes.
Most of these CDs have excellent sound quality and you'll be amazed
that they actually sound better than the LPs. Chris is working on
these right now, so it's a work in progress.
It's exciting to hear newly released recordings of automatic music
from decades ago, from the archives of the pioneer collectors.
