Using a roll frame from an old Autotypist, I've built a roll transport
mechanism for scanning music rolls. My take-up spool is driven by an
Edison AC/DC universal motor controlled through a Bodine speed
controller.
The motor is currently fitted with an 8-tooth sprocket, connected
via standard player piano ladder chain to a 32-tooth sprocket drive.
I need to gear it down still further and am seeking a source of:
* A single combined 8-tooth/32-tooth gear with a 3/8" shaft hole,
with a built in lock nut.
* Alternatively, one each of an 8-tooth gear and a 32-tooth gear
that I can bolt together to achieve this gear reduction.
* Sleeve bearings for this 3/8" shaft.
I can fabricate a mounting bracket, although a ready-made one would
be neat.
My search of the 'Net came up empty. Lots of sprocket gears for the
hobbyists for robotics and model railroads, but nothing large enough
for my purposes. I founds lots of firms who will make them to order
for large $$, but found nothing of a stock nature.
I'm not wedded to these teeth and shaft diameter specs. Something
close will work. Suggestions and thoughts of others?
