Yesterday I discovered on this web site, http://www.cybermusicsurplus.com/
some of the Nimbus label CDs of Duo-Art recordings that Gerald Stonehill
of London, England, was involved with in making and using a Vorsetzer
built by he and Gordon Iles, formerly with Aeolian Corp of London.
(Iles is now deceased.) A nine-foot concert grand was used in the
Nimbus studios in London.
According to Stonehill, who is known as an authority regarding the
Duo-Art, the home model Duo-Art reproducing pianos were not exactly
capable of a true concert hall performance due to insufficient volume
of vacuum available, whereas his Vorsetzer was capable of a true
concert hall performance.
There are six Nimbus CDs available on this sale, known as "Grand
Piano", as well as more than 228 other types of music, all Nimbus
label. When searching the CyberMusic web site, type in "Grand Piano"
in the search block and it will bring up six titles that are available
at $6.50 each.
CyberMusic ships orders of more than $50 value with shipping prepaid.
Their sale pricing represent about 50% discount. There are some good
classic jazz and pop titles available also, e.g., Duke Ellington, Benny
Goodman and other pop music like Bob Crosby's orchestra and vocals like
Judy Garland. Samples of the music can be listened to on the web site.
I have purchased CDs before from this company who are located near
Portland, Oregon, and they are reliable to do business with.
