Hi Jon! Hi Matthew! Just let you know that some years before I have
recommended to my clients the McAfee-Antivirus software. But when this
company decided to go a complicated and cryptic way (check out the
related registry-hives and -keys on a Windows system), it's not
unlikely you will get the idea this software could be some kind of
Trojan, spyware, phone-home or something else of that variety.
In my opinion Symantec's 'Norton Antivirus' is the same (additionally
when their servers would suffer from viral attacks - they did! - and
you are connected via 'LiveUpdate', good luck!).
Searching for a good, transparent, reconstructable and trustable
anti-virus-program I came to Aladdin's 'eSafe desktop', but when
I multiple tried to contact the company especially in England and
Germany (in order to get information about selling it to my clients),
there was _no_ answer ...
Since about two years I found a suitable program 'f-prot' done by the
Islandic company 'Frisk Software' <http://www.f-prot.com> You can have
Linux- and DOS-versions for free, the Windows-version costs USD 40 for
up to 20 computers (including update-service of the virii definitions
tables for one year).
Cheers!
