Passing of Composer Ralph Arnie 1924-2003
By Hans van Oost

On January 19th, 2003, composer Ralph Arnie passed away in Hamburg,
Germany, at the age of 79. Ralph Arnie became world famous in the
late nineteen-fifties with his song, "Tulpen aus Amsterdam", which
he wrote for Catherina Valente, but later was sung by hundreds of
singers worldwide in tens of different languages. The song was
also arranged for a wide range of mechanical musical instruments,
including almost all Dutch street organs. May he rest in peace.
