Mildew On Player Piano Pneumatic Cloth
By Dick Leis

I am considering the purchase of a premium make reproducing piano.
This piano has seen storage in a less than ideal area, resulting in
mildew appearing on the pneumatic cloth, even though the piano was
restored no more than 10 years ago.

The only material that I was able to observe that had this mildew was
the medium weight red cloth found on the spool box drive motors and
expression devices.

Can someone give me any advice on the extent of harm that might have
occurred to the cloth? If I do go ahead with the purchase of this
piano, what would be the best treatment for the exterior of the cloth,
short of replacing it?
