The Fascination of the Tracker Bar
By John Farrell

In his essay on the above subject Jean Nimal said :

> Never mind -- I am sure some one is going to outfit a computer
> screen to represent paper running by!

This has already been done. Richard Brandle's magnificent "Wind"
program allows MIDI files to be imported which are then displayed
on the computer screen as piano roll images. When in Play mode these
scroll over an image of a tracker bar while the music plays.

"Wind," which I have been using for years, has become one of my most
indispensable tools for making piano rolls, without it I would be lost.
