I am in the process of restoring a small 31-note barrel piano. The
barrels are 18" x 10" diameter, and the case is 32" x 51" x 20" deep.
The case seems to be a plain Mission style with solid oak and oak
veneer, with a scroll-work upper front panel.
The seller assured me it was all there, but all of the coin mechanism
and some of the mandoline parts are missing. At least the clockwork
mechanism is strong and working fine. I haven't been able to identify
the maker yet -- maybe something will show up as I get into it. So much
for buying sight unseen, I guess!
Anyhow, any information regarding barrel pianos, i.e., makers, history,
books, etc., would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks!
