The last release of backlogged MMDigests contained two questions about
Lador music box products. While the Internet doesn't provide much
information about Lador, using Google (http://www.google.com), rather
than one of the more common -- and more feeble -- search engines, does
turn up some mentions of Lador that are germane to the subject of music
boxes, including Lador Music Box King Ltd., of Baldwin, Long Island,
N.Y.
I don't know how much Lador information that firm might be able to
provide, but it may be worth contacting. (It also brings up one hit
for the British Lador Party, obviously the web site's misprint for Labor
Party.)
The Musical Box Society International's journal "Mechanical Music" ran
in v. 40, issues 1 and 2, two articles by Phyllis Van Marter on powder
boxes, which was Lador's line. Phyllis Van Marter is now deceased, but
MBSI member Carol A. Dufresne has been a helpful source of information
for people interested in Lador. Her email address is
