Electric Spool Motor Is Too Fast When Cold
By Steve Bentley

I acquired an "O" roll frame/unit from Player Piano Co., Wichita KS,
1982. The take-up spool speed is controlled by a potentiometer.

On "overnight cold" when starting to play, the spool runs faster than
its normal setting and it takes at least two tunes to be played before
it settles down. This will be due to temperature changes in motor and
potentiometer. The situation is not nice when showing a friend my
orchestrion for the first time.

Is there a way I can correct this? All you knowledgeable experts might
have some "tips".

[ Just turn the potentiometer knob for the correct speed! ;-)
