Hello, I'm wondering if you can tell me anything about this
music box? It's small and plain, no doubt mass produced, and
I'm sure not worth anything, but I'm curious about it because it
belonged to my mother. The plate on the bottom says "Thorens,
Inc., New Hyde Park, N.Y."
I wonder if my mother bought it herself, possibly in the 1930s,
or if it's older than that? Also, is there a name for particular
kind of music box (with the fixed rotating drum)? To my knowledge,
nothing can be replaced and it only plays one song, "Down By the
Old Mill Stream."
It's a little over 6" long (7" long at the base); a little under
4" deep; almost 3" high.
Thank you,
Laurel Singer
