Hi All, Chris Carlisle asked about a pricing guide for mechanical
musical instruments. To my knowledge, the last reference that
contained such information was 'The Official Price Guide to Music
Collectibles", Sixth Edition, published 1986 by 'The House of
Collectibles', New York, NY, 10022.
However, my reason for writing is to report that there is a relatively
new Internet web site that is attempting to address the dilemma
surrounding our industry, i.e., the value of mechanical musical
devices. The web site is being spearheaded by Maloney's, a noted
leader and resource with regards to Antiques and Collectibles. The
URL of the new site is http://www.CollectingChannel.com/
I was approached by Dave Maloney and ultimately became an affiliate.
What that means is that for every person who visits CollectingChannel.com
via the link at Player-Care.com and pays for an appraisal from them, I
will receive $1.00. Mind you, I didn't become an affiliate for the
money! In a best case scenario, it will take 10 years to make up for
the time I spent corresponding with the company and installing the link
to their site.
My reason for becoming an affiliate was the knowledge that many people
want to find out the value of mechanical musical devices before they
become involved -- or after they have already spent their money.
Naturally, you can go directly to the web site and request an
appraisal, but if you like to help me out a tiny little bit, the link
is located at http://www.player-care.com/values.html#collectibles
Musically,
John A. Tuttle
