Salzburg Stier Celebration 26 October 2002
By Ron Schmuck
Hello Everyone, I am pleased to forward the following email [below]
from Hans van Oost.
I am leaving for Europe in a few hours but please visit the Salzburg
Stier web site at http://www.salzstier.com/ where you can see a list
all of the wonderful performers who will be entertaining us and most
important the sponsorship program so YOU can be part of this project
and have your name beside the Stier for the next 500 years, The return
of the Salzburg Stier Barrel organ to it's former glory of 1502 at the
fortress Hohensalzburg.
See you in Salzburg

On Friday evening I was so lucky to hear the Stier playing again. We
heard the melodies on the newly-delivered barrel. The story of how it
had to be pinned is quite fascinating, and I will tell it in Salzburg
on the 26th. The machine is working fine, to my opinion.
The work by the Utrecht museum has finished, and on Wednesday the Dutch
part of the instrument will travel to Salzburg to be reunited with the
parts restored there. More than two weeks seem quite sufficient to me
for tuning and regulating the organ and I expect a great happening on
the 26th!
I will be present. Hope to meet you there!
regards from Holland,
Hans van Oost
