I have recently acquired the Organette Book by Kevin McElhone.
Being relatively new to mechanical music I've been fortunate in finding
a wealth of information from collector's throughout the country and
abroad. The fact that a lot of organettes were inexpensive, considered
the poor man's entertainment, and not designed to last makes it even
more remarkable that they have survived over the years.
The Organette Book offers a first-rate history of the organette with a
comprehensive listing of instruments long forgotten . Kevin's support
and dedication to this endeavor along with all those involved has only
supported my desire to learn as much as possible about this forgotten
marriage of music and engineering.
