Is there any way to flatten the surfaces of Edison Diamond Disk records?
I have several disks where the surface has delaminated from the core
and flared up at the edges. Would heating them in an oven with a
flat weight work? Is there any solvent which would soften but not
completely dissolve the surface?
If there is a way of flattening them, should I try to glue the
surface back in place?
Most of my problems are in the margin before the grooves start so
I could probably just break off the worst of it but it would make
starting the record difficult. The flaring on the bottom surface
raises the whole record off the turntable, often making it no longer
level and changing the angle of the stylus, so I would like to do
something about it if possible.
