Edgar Fairchild was born June 1, 1898, in New York; he died February 20,
1975, in Woodland Hills, California. He was sometimes credited as
Edgar 'Cookie' Fairchild. During the 1940s and 1950s, Edgar Fairchild
was Musical Director/Composer for over 40 films, including a number of
Deanna Durbin movies, a Dracula/Wolfman movie, some Abbott and Costello

Wilbur Chenoweth, American composer and a Nebraska native, attended the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln and taught in the School of Music from
1925 to 1931 as a professor of piano, organ, and theory. He moved to
Santa Monica, CA, in 1938 and was professor at the Occidental College
from 1938 to 1945.
Robert Armbruster, contemporary of Edgar Fairchild, was Orchestral
Conductor for the Lux Radio Theatre, for a portion of, or the entire
duration of 1934-1955. This was one of few sixty-minute broadcasts
and was the most important dramatic show in radio. The 931 episodes
broadcast were all based on popular films with the biggest stars of
Hollywood playing the parts and during its heyday the audience was
estimated as high as forty million.
