Seek Repair of Unknown Nickelodeon in Michigan
By Richard Day
I am a piano tuner with very little experience with mechanical music.
One of my customers has a sick nickelodeon (I think). It is basically
a console piano with drums and an accordion on top. A stained glass
window covers these. I think it takes style 'O' rolls.
Anyway, the speed is erratic and sometimes the roll will not move at
all unless given manual help. A player piano tech in this area says
the problem is electronic -- there is a black box in the lower right
hand corner with a bunch of plugs coming out of it -- and he doesn't
know where to get parts.
I can find no name on anything inside the piano.
The question: Is there anybody around these parts that can fix this
unit?
It is a money maker for the owner and I'm sure he would be willing to
pay for some limited travel (say, 100 miles) to get it fixed. We are
located in Mid Michigan, about 40 miles north of the Indiana border, at
the intersection of I-69 and I-94; the name of the town is Marshall.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You may answer on the
list or contact me by e-mail: <pianotoone@aol.com>
Thanks
