Playing Reproducing Roll on 88-note Player Piano
By Sam Harris
Dan Wilson's method of playing reproducing rolls on a standard 88-note
player is the best way to do it. He explained it this way:
"This is best done by attaching a strip of very thin plastic sheet (the
black trash bags used in England work well for this) of the appropriate
width, with Magic Tape, some way back on top of the tracker bar shelf.
This strip can then be folded back to play full 88-note compass rolls."
I use a thin strip of a shopping bag (Wal-Mart) to make the curtain.
This worked best on my Standard player because if I used any tape at
all it held the paper up from the tracker bar enough to hinder the
tracking device. On players with paper edge sensing holes it is
important to make sure what ever you use is thin enough to allow the
tracking device to function properly.
