Actually, Tim never did respond to my comments. He gave many good tips
on how to organize and promote an organ rally but he never did address
the question of how to coordinate a schedule for many organ rallies
held by the various chapters and organizations. My question was
strictly about scheduling and coordination. I didn't ask about MBSI
finances, who generates the most money, which mechanical musical
instruments are better, etc. I think we can all agree that having
rallies in neighboring towns on neighboring dates is counter-productive.
The real issue is how to prevent schedule conflicts.
All the talk about MBSI finances has been bothersome to me, especially
since it had nothing to do with my initial question. Successfully
promoting mechanical music is more than just how much money an activity
generates. How do you measure what the public has learned about your
hobby?
If organ rallies have had a good success rate, then why not have
rallies for other types of instruments? Anyone want to organize a
music box rally? It could happen.
For those who don't know, there was a non-MMD side discussion by a
small group on the scheduling issue and two volunteers have now come
forward to coordinate the calendar. Hopefully, this will resolve some
of the scheduling conflicts.
