Weber Piano Made In Kingston, Canada
By Jim Heyworth
Hi Folks!
Just a short comment on Steve Bentley's note about his Canadian Weber.
The Canadian and American Weber piano manufacturers were not at all
related and the quality of construction of the Canadian Webers isn't
nearly as high as that found in the earlier American Webers. (See
long-ago MMD files).
I will say, though, in spite of its shortcomings, my Canadian Weber
(not a player) has a very good tone which is why my grandparents
selected it in the first place. They bought it in 1919 to replace a
reed organ which was inadequate for my mother's piano lessons.
If I ever get around to restoring the Weber, it will be a very nice
piano. As it is, it rates a good "okay," which isn't bad after
83 years and nothing much more than tuning and keytop replacement.
