Great Circus Parade, Milwaukee WI 14 July 2002
By Robbie Rhodes

The Great Circus Parade, presented by Circus World Museum of
Baraboo, Wisconsin, will take place on Sunday, July 14, 2002,
at 2:00 PM "come rain or shine" in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The two-hour processional over a three-mile (4.8 km) route
authentically recreates a turn-of-the-century circus street
parade, and features 60 historic wagons, over 700 horses,
cavorting clowns, wild animals in cage wagons, and the fabulous
40-Horse Hitch.

For recorded information by telephone call Circus World
Museum, tel.: (608) 356-0800

A brand new web site for Circus World Museum is now
under construction at http://www.circusworldmuseum.com/

In an interesting article about the circus and circus music ,
"The Triumphal March of Melody", author (and MMDer) Fred Dahlinger,
Jr., notes: "The steam calliope was presented as a technological
marvel on the 1857 Nixon & Kemp Circus."
