Seek Pianolist for Dodge Brothers Club Meeting
By Brian Tate
The Dodge Brothers [Auto] Club is having its annual International Meet
this year in Belleville, Illinois, and we would really like to find
a volunteer to bring their player piano and play for the group.
There are two rolls (that we know of) with The Dodge Brothers March by
Victor Herbert. Bennett Leedy produced a new roll this year and I ran
across an old copy on the Pop label and had a few copies recut. I would
be willing to give this volunteer a copy of each roll.
Bob Palmer, who is organizing this event, has outlined a few other
details and has added another incentive. It would probably be easiest
for an interested volunteer just to put a note in MMD and I will see
that Bob Palmer gets it. I know there are many people who have multiple
hobbies and this could be a very fun experience for an MMDD'er who also
has a special place in their heart for Dodge and the Dodge Brothers.
Bob writes: "If you learn of someone who could bring a machine to the
meet, the most appropriate time would be for our Saturday evening
banquet on July 6th which starts at 6:00 PM. The banquet will be at
the Dooley Conference Center on the campus of the Our Lady of the Snows
National Shrine. This is also the location of our host hotel for the
meet. One perk that you could offer the person bringing the machine
to the banquet room would be a free buffet dinner. I could make
arrangements to reserve a place at one of the tables if I know by the
beginning of the meet week to expect such a person will be arriving."
