I really hesitate to say much about dealing with compatibility problems
with the latest versions of Windows as I'm no expert or even that
familiar with it. But I've heard it suggested it's possible to load
Windows 98 onto one of the new computers with Windows XP and use 98
to run your programs that are not compatible with the latest Windows
versions.
The new machines have enough memory to handle this provided you're not
getting huge programs that require all the capabilities of XP and all
kinds of tens of giga-Herz of hard drive to run. I don't think most of
us have ever even come close to remotely probing the limits of Windows
98.
I know there's some extremely computer knowledgeable folks reading this
list. I would hope that maybe one of them may be able to confirm or
debunk whether or not Windows 98 can be loaded on with XP, and if so,
how it'd be set up to where you could select which ever operating
system you needed at the time.
