I was asked to look at a Weber pianola grand that had been "restored"
and which the customer had bought, without any advice, for sentimental
reasons. Basically, she had played the piano when she was a child many
years ago, before the "restoration".
The original piano pedals, exhausters and the complete box which
contained them had been thrown away and a vacuum cleaner motor added
which, even when slowed with a light dimmer, is too noisy and in any
case has been overheated.
More mysterious is the fact that the manual controls, their
identification plates, the spool box cover and music shelf have also
been discarded.
I have an Aeolian bottom stack (bellows set). This is probably a
forlorn hope, but could I get some photos showing the box in which this
fits and the piano pedal arrangement? Even more forlorn: is there a set
of controls out there which I could buy?
I should just walk away but I would at least like to make an effort
because the piano itself and all the remaining player parts are in good
order.
