In regard to visiting Czech republic and Prague, I have been there
three times and whoever the fellow was who said that the people are
cold as ice must have had a bad American attitude. Prague can be
warm and friendly and the outlying areas are full of very nice people.
As far as automatic music is concerned you're in the wrong place.
I have talked to many of the people there in my broken English and
Czech and through interpreters and 90% of the folks over there have
never heard of a player piano or anything like it. When I had some
friends and relatives here in the States for a visit they were
astounded when I exhibited my player pianos. It seems that most of
Europe was lacking in these great old household instruments and we
Americans were the most forward folks in the world even 75 or 80 years
ago. It appears that only the very wealthy over in Europe could have
anything like a player piano and the only other country that had a
goodly supply of players was Britain and her empire.
Nobody, but nobody had more player pianos of every style and design
than we Americans. It sounds like bragging but it's a fact and anyone
who has messed about with players for any length of time can tell you
the same.
