Reading about John McClure's planned trip to the Czech Republic
brought back many memories for me. After the Berlin wall fell I made
many trips there to buy music boxes, organs and the like. Every
village and town has a few junk shops and antique shops. They used
to be a gold mine. I have not been there for the last eight years and
I wonder what the situation is now.
There is a large antique shop in the old Jewish ghetto area of Prague.
I bought one roll for a Hupfeld Violina. I tried to ask where they
got it or what happened to the instrument, but my Czech is almost
non-existant. Perhaps it's in the back of the shop. Good luck.
