"Big Bertha"
By Steve Bentley

Nothing to do with music, but I read the story of the Alfred Krupp Co.,
the German arms maker. Krupp named his largest gun "Big Bertha", who
in turn was either his wife or aunt called Bertha (I can't remember
which); apparently she was large in size. This is where the name was
derived.

The Krupp proving ground (test range) was 50 miles by 50 miles square.
The noise of the guns was "music" to his ears.
