Hello all, I'm certain there will be many replies on this subject.
In Mike Montgomery's 1963 taped interviews with J. Lawrence Cook,
Mike asked JLC about the various pseudonyms that he used.
On page 64 of Bob & Ginny Billings' Rollography, vol. 5 (highly
recommended for its historical information), Mike asks, "Cal Welsh
[sic] -- That's you, isn't it?" JLC replies, "That's me."
J. Lawrence Cook joined QRS at their factory located at 781 E. 135th
St. & Willow Ave., New York City, on 1 May 1923, after working on roll
arrangements for the U.S. Music Roll Co. Presumably, all Cal Welch
rolls are before that date.
Musically yours
