Harmonika Simplex Disc Playing Concertina
By Rod Cornelius
I am looking for information about a disc playing concertina similar to
the Tanzbar. This one is named Harmonika Simplex, with DRGM No. 253645
after the name, this presumably being the German patent number. The
concertina is a little larger than the smaller Tanzbar and has 20 cm
discs. These have dimples instead of full projections to operate the
reed levers. The discs have the title and number printed on, but no
other detail; they are zinc. There are 18 notes.
There is a similar one listed on page 776 of Bowers' Encyclopedia.
This is a different make but possibly from about the same time of
manufacture. My one is in very good condition but needs some
adjustments, and the handle or whatever has been altered. I would
like to fully restore this instrument and would like to hear more
about it and contact someone with a similar one.
