Greetings all, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who
responded to my request for information about the pitch of the first
plain wire string on a Seeburg L.
So -- thanks to Art Reblitz, Craig Brougher, Bruce Clark, Jack Conway,
George Bogatko, Don Teach, Robbie, and the others who kindly took the
time to help. I hope I haven't left anyone out and I am most grateful
to you all.
This goes to show you how helpful this MM Digest can be. Where else
would I have found people who would assist so readily and so quickly?
I'm eternally grateful for Jody & Robbie for providing this forum.
On a related note, I must say that my face is red. Someday I may
learn that I really ought not to send notes or post to MMD in the
middle of the night when my brain and fingers are not in communication.
Don Teach correctly pointed out that there are 22 strings, not 11.
There are 11 _notes_, but somehow I didn't manage to write that
properly.
Also, I notice that I wrote that if the first plain wire string was
indeed an A#, it seemed probable that it was the first A# below Middle
C. Rather obviously, I managed to neglect inserting the words "an
octave" between A# and middle C.
While the spell-checker in my e-mail program is wonderful, what I
apparently really need is a checker to assure that my brain and fingers
are on the same page and operating at the same speed, preferably before
I click on the "send" button.
That being said, I again thank all the fine folks who took the time
to help.
Dean Randall,
red-faced by Puget Sound, Washington.
