I've begun restoration of my Aeolian Grand 58-note reed organ and
have, of course run into things that I haven't seen in working on
pianos previously. I'm hoping that some of the knowledgeable and
generous souls of this community will help me out. I've posted a
series of pictures and questions on my web site:
http://home.attbi.com/~rwiegand/aeolian_grand/aeolian_grand_pics.htm
(I assume this would not be of any particular archival value to the
MMD, though you are welcome to have them. I'd hope to write an article
someday that would contain solutions, not just questions.)
The questions relate to recovering the leather pneumatics that actuate
the pallet valves and to anchoring the tongue that engages the pallet.
Speaking of rodents in organs, does anyone have a good way of pulling
out a reed that is locked in place with mouse urine, etc?
Cheers!
