I want to comment on the article by Terry Smythe about his experience
with The Piano Exchange. I consider myself friends with both Terry
Smythe and Rick Smith, owner of The Piano Exchange, and I wondered if
I might help.
I called up Rick, who told me that they have sold countless hundreds
of player piano rolls, and the person in charge of this was merely
instructed to pull off the left flange to look for problems. The torn
chain perforations would not have showed up in this kind of inspection,
and that Terry is entitled to a full refund. Terry's article does not
make clear if he tried to resolve the matter with The Piano Exchange,
but as they say, "All's well that ends well," and I hope everybody's
happy.
