While looking for piano rolls yesterday I met a very nice lady who has
an interesting upright player for sale. It's a Melville Clark, vintage
1910, which can play at least three different kinds of rolls: 88, 65
and 58 note. It also plays the 15-1/4" wide Solo Apollo rolls and has
the spring motor roll rewind feature. Approximately 50-65 rolls,
mostly classical and light classical, come with it.
The piano was purchased by the seller's grandfather in 1910 and has
been in the family ever since. It has never been restored and will
need at least a full pneumatic rebuild. The case is mahogany with
slight alligatoring. One keytop is missing. Bass strings sound good.
It is big and heavy. I did not inspect it further.
It's located in Lafayette, CA, two towns east of Oakland, CA. She's
asking $700.00. Contact her: Nancy Hieta, tel.: 925-283-3154. You can
email her at <rnhieta@attbi.com>.
I am not financially involved in the sale. I'd like to see this piano
find a good home. I don't know much more, but feel free to email me if
you have a question.
