Silk vs. Cotton Pneumatic Cloth
By Tom Gregory

I am completing restoration of an American player mechanism
installed in a French harmonium. I ordered two types of motor
cloth from Schaff Piano Supply. The cotton backed cloth was easy
to work with and adhered well with hot glue. I had difficulty
working with the silk motor cloth (which was more expensive).

Does the silk cloth have any advantages over the cotton cloth?
Are there special techniques needed to glue the silk cloth?

Best wishes,

Tom Gregory
