Furthest Traveled Mechanical Music Item
By Julian Dyer

How about a few Rythmodik rolls I've got? Made in New York, sold new
around 1917 in, of all places, Shanghai (with dealer's ink stamp on
the roll). They were purchased in London with an early Stoddard Ampico
piano that had made the same trip and ended up at a restorer's in
London.

Or else a London-made Universal music roll, with a dealer's label for
a shop in the Netherlands, purchased by me from Larry Norman in
Virginia. The roll arrived back about 15 miles from where it was made!

I think there are a few pianos in the UK that have been to Australia
and back with their owners. "Top that," as they say!
