This subject has arisen before on MMD and one should not need to carry
out Sherlock Holmes type research to discover a correspondent's location.
In particular, when requesting parts or offering goods for sale, it all
boils down to common sense and consideration for commercial aspects
such as shipping costs. Above all though, it is a matter of simple
courtesy.
As I have commented before, not everyone interested in Mechanical Music
lives on the North American continent, and contributors from the USA
taking advantage of the Internet's world-wide capabilities would do
well to recognise this fact. MMD really is global, and we are all the
richer for it.
I hesitate to overload our already heavily burdened editors but would
it not be a useful function of them to monitor For Sale and Wanted
messages accordingly?
And in their welcome to new members (which I always find most positive)
perhaps the editors could encourage a signature from future
correspondents that carries with it their country of origin?
Pedantically yours,

[ I haven't time to investigate all the truth and fiction which
[ comes to MMD, nor to correspond about incomplete data; MMDigest
[ simply disseminates the messages. We all depend upon the senders
[ to be thoughtful and thorough when they compose their messages.
