Dear MMDians, I've been hesitant to publish these scales because
I have not yet tried them all myself. These pipe ranks are theoretical
and not complete, however some test pipes have been built along the
scales and are yielding relatively reliable results. These scales are
for you all to try out. Creation of these scales was made possible by
my friend Paul F. West; he is the real engineer behind them.
Note that the violins are the only flues that are freined. The Great
Open is of wood, naturally, and not freined. It seems stable at ten
inches of wind pressure, which is what I might be pushing for myself.
It will work on 8 inches though.
I stumbled across the diapason while shortening large strings with a
40% cut-up (standard for band-organs). The result was a flute on low
pressure, but enough harmonics were built up so that it made for a
decent diapason on high pressure. Enjoy all, but build at your own
risk!
