Paul Freiling wrote that he did not know if "threshers" were wrestlers
or boxers. I, being on the East Coast, should have realized that the
main cash crop on the West Coast is harvested by hand and doesn't
require equipment to bring to market ... Just kidding!
The "Southeast Old Threshers Reunion" is in Denton, North Carolina.
For those interested, there is a publication, called "Steam and Gas
Show Directory," published by Stemgas Publishing Co., PO Box 328,
Lancaster, PA 17608-0328' tel.: 1-717-392-0733. For $10 plus shipping,
a rather complete (hundreds!) listing of shows in the US and Canada is
available. It is worth the cost, if for nothing but the photos of old
equipment. The 2002 edition should be available in February.
This might be a new source of reproducing mechanisms that has not been
over-shopped.
Good Luck and Enjoy,
Dean Smith
[ I guess that California's primary traditional cash crop is alfalfa
[ to feed the cows, but soon you folks across the country can enjoy
[ the first strawberries of the new year, from California! Yes, we
[ still harvest the strawberries by hand. ;-) -- Robbie
