Dear Folks, I've got eight Clark Orchestra Rolls ("For 65-Note
Rewind Electric Pianos") recently from an attic of a house (a former
coal miner's bar?) in Mt. Carmel, PA. I think they're original --
they seem to have enough dust on the outside of the box!
Below is a listing of the roll titles. They seem to match most
the style of the 1256 "Hot Stuff" label on the MMD web site,
http://mmd.foxtail.com/MMMedia/Clark/clarkCat1928.html
The paper doesn't seem to be brittle, thankfully. Really none of
them do seem to have great wear on them, although the boxes are a
little tired and are dusty/dirty. The outside box label on the 657
does seem to have been pressed against or smudged.
I'm guessing these are from somewhere between 1918 and 1928, based on
when the company might have started (Melville Clark's death) and a 1928
catalog which seems to list some younger recordings (higher numbers).
Here is a link to some images of them: http://www.nancysnuwave.com/images/
I'm quite happy to take and post or email more photos if there is any
interest.
If you have any ideas for a good use for them, or of their value, or
any other comments or questions, I'd very much like to hear from you!
By the way, I'm wondering if there is anyway to get recordings (CD or
cassette) of these pieces?
With kind regards,
Chris Stratton
