I, too, have a little problem with the cost of the $42 annual dues for
AMICA. I just received information on our 2002 AMICA Annual Convention
in Springdale, Arkansas. It sounds like a lot of fun; however, the
cost is $175 per person. If my wife and two children go, that would be
$700 just for meeting costs. If we leave the kids in the hotel room,
it's still $350.
I just renewed my dues for the second year. I've met many wonderful
people. Most all were great and helpful. The publications are great.
However they appear to be slanted to the expensive reproducing pianos.
I understand how you feel. I looked for years for a small crank organ.
Last year I sold my boat and just bought one. It been lots of fun and
well worth the wait.
Good luck in your endeavors.
