To Dave Clark: Moeller made their own player units and they were quite
good and were quite complex. I have seen a few Moeller players in my
day, and was always in awe of the complexity of the system and yet the
simplicity of the player unit, i.e. the ease in which to fix a cipher
etc. They worked on the multiplex system and Moeller cut their own
rolls.
A fellow out there has the perforator plus the masters and has
almost a, if not, complete set of their rolls. Each roll was cut for
a particular organ, i.e., the stop changes, so a roll cut to play a
4-manual instrument wouldn't sound right on a 6-rank organ.
I had a chance to buy one from a funeral home many years ago, for
5 grand, and I didn't do it; it was very compact and was located,
I think, in Delaware. But one can't have every instrument they see
or hear about, now can they?!
